To Lay the Foundation for a “New Civilization”

Since its founding, Seicho-No-Ie has adhered to its unchanging teachings of “Gratitude for everything on earth and in Heaven” and “all things are one in God”, striving for resource conservation. In 2001, it became the first religious organization to obtain ISO 14001 certification for its environmental management system. The organization has been actively engaged in conservation efforts, including the installation of solar power generation systems, planting trees and forests, and reducing meat consumption.

We believe that by moving away from conventional ways of thinking that prioritize efficiency and self-interest, and instead embracing a way of life that fosters self-respect and a connection with the natural world, humankind can preserve our beautiful planet and achieve true happiness.

This represents a shift from the “fossil fuel civilization,” “underground resource civilization” that has prevailed since the Industrial Revolution to a “nature-symbiotic civilization,” “above-ground resource civilization” based on renewable natural energy. In other words, it means that humankind will awaken the awareness of being children of God, deepen their love for nature and build a “new civilization in which nature and humankind are in harmony.”
