Brazil Youth and Young Adult Association Leaders' Workshop Draws 952 People

Study of The Sundial Way of Life

The Brazil Youth and Young Adult Association Leaders’ Workshop was held from mid-January to early February at the five spiritual training centers in Brazil. The number of attendees totaled 952.

The breakdown of the attendees by site was 567 for the South American Spiritual Training Center in Sao Paulo, 123 for the Santa Fe Spiritual Training Center in Bahia, 118 for the Curitiba Spiritual Training Center in Parana, 95 for the Santa Tecla Spiritual Training Center in Rio Grande do Sul, and 49 for the Amazonia Spiritual Training Center, which was built in Belem last year.

The Workshop held at the South American Spiritual Training Center, which drew more than half of the attendees, was guided by Rev. Junji Miyaura (Ordained Minister, Vice Chairman of Brazil Missionary Headquarters), Rev. Carlos Alberto da Silva (Assistant Minister, Vice Chief of Youth and Young Adult Association), and three Assistant Ministers and three Regional Lecturers.

Using the Portuguese translation of the Hidokeishugi towa Nanika (What Is the Sundial Way of Life?) by Rev. Masanobu Taniguchi as his text, Rev. Miyaura explained the function of the right side brain and left side brain. After that there were workshops by group to bring out artistic talent, such as painting, dance, play and musical composition.

Rev. Alberto da Silva held a discussion session with the attendees on the content of the Brazil Missionary Headquarters’ Movement Policy and the Brazil Youth and Young Adult Association’s Activity Plan. He also led the Shinsokan for Mutual Prayer.

The program also included a study on how to practice the sundial way of life, including the usage of the Sundial Diary, Ancestor Memorial Service, Mind Purification Ceremony and devotional labor.

Comments from the attendees included: “I realized that we can be great”; and “I will bring out my infinite ability in order to make the world a better place.”

REMARKS BY REV. CARLOS ALBERTO DA SILVA, CHIEF OF THE BRAZIL YOUTH AND YOUNG ADULT ASSOCIATION

“Rev. Masanobu Taniguchi’s book, Hidokeishugi towa Nanika, was the source of inspiration for the attendees. We held workshops designed to bring out artistic sensibilities so that the attendees discover the True Image through truth, goodness and beauty. From two years ago the focus of our Movement was rejuvenation of the organization. This time, the average age of the attendees was younger than 25. This shows that the Movement’s successors are being developed steadily.”
