One-day Truth Realization Seminar for Parents held in the Republic of China

Attend by 166 People

In the Republic of China, a One-Day Truth Realization Seminar for Parents was held on September 12 and 13 at the Taipei Missionary Center in Taipei and Plaza International Hotel Taichung in Taichung. This was the first time that a One-Day Truth Realization Seminar for Parents had been held in the Republic of China. The number of attendees totaled 266. Fifty percent of them, or 127 people, were first-timers.

The breakdown of the attendees was 120 for Taipei, and 146 for Taichung. In Taichung, the first-timers accounted for 66 percent and middle-aged people 80 percent. The Republic of China Missionary Headquarters attributed the reasons for increase in the attendance by first-timers and middle-aged people to the promotion by direct mail and telephone calls and the use of an ordinary hotel as the Seminar site.

Also, the hard work to increase the middle-aged members and improve Mothers’ Study Classes contributed to increasing the Mothers’ Study Class sites from 1 to 21 over a four-year period. The objective of this Seminar included (1) propagation of the teachings to homes and (2) gaining understanding of married couples about each other’s involvement in activities and Readers’ Meeting attendance.

The texts used were Chinese translations of Shinko ni yoru Heiwa no Michi (Realizing Peace by Faith) by Rev. Masanobu Taniguchi and Aijo Kyoshitsu (Class on Love) by Rev. Seicho Taniguchi. Rev. Kyoko Okubo (Ordained Minister, Vice Chief of Organizational Movement Department) was dispatched from the International Headquarters as a lecturer. She guided together with Rev. Masanori Morita (Ordained Minister, Bishop of Seicho-No-Ie Republic of China). Rev. Chen Bor Horng (Ordained Minister, Secretariat of the Republic of China Missionary Headquarters) acted as their interpreter.

Rev. Okubo gave two lectures: “Child Rearing with Love and Trust” and “In Order to Build a Bright Home.” She introduced her own experience of how she was saved by practicing what she learned at Mothers’ Study Classes. She stressed the importance of practicing the three important religious practices and the sundial way of life at home as well as harmony between husband and wife.

Rev. Morita gave the closing lecture, “The Life of Earth, the Life of Man.” He emphasized that spreading the life of good harmony that worships the life of everything leads to the environmental protection.

Comments received from the attendees included: “I was moved by the lectures and testimonies. I would like to bring a friend next time and share the joy with her.”

REMARKS BY REV. MASANORI MORITA, BISHOP OF SEICHO-NO-IE REPUBLIC OF CHINA

“The middle-aged people accounted for more than half of the attendees. Also the teaching is spreading among the younger generation. It will still take time for us to increase our membership. I would like to continue to increase the middle-aged followers in the future.”
