NO GARBAGE COLLECTION PLACE?

You may think that garbage should be brought to the garbage collection place. However, unlike in Japan, there are no collection places in Taipei. Where do people dispose of the garbage, then? Actually, we bring the garbage directly to a garbage collection truck.
The garbage collection truck plays music, “For Elise,” from a speaker and goes around the city from 4:00 to 11:00 p.m. When this music is heard, 10, 20 people carrying rubbish gather. When seeing this, foreigners seem to wonder what is going on. And under close watch of the collection staff, people separate their garbage. Cooking waste is separated into two kinds: left-over feed and flowers/vegetable skins, etc. Each individual puts them into bins himself. Cooking waste is used as food for pigs and flowers/vegetable skins are recycled as fertilizer. If one does not separate the garbage, he is fined. So everyone is serious.
Perhaps because of this, we never see crows looking for food at garbage collection places, as seen in Japan.
