“I was raised by a devout Christian family. I found myself looking for God in many places. All the time while I was searching for God, my father left me alone to follow ‘My Truth.’ I will always be thankful to my father for that. It made me the Truth student I am today.
If I were to describe my life in one word, it would be ‘fortunate.’ After dreaming for many years about becoming an exchange student, I was granted a scholarship in Denmark that changed my life forever. In addition to learning English, I was also gifted with two wonderful Danish families.
On February 4, 2012, I attended the 54th International Spiritual Training Seminar in Rancho Palos Verdes, California. It came at a time when I felt I just needed to go and really connect with my inner self and God. The experience there was just so overwhelming: everyone was accepted for who they are and we were truly like brothers and sisters.

In my twenties, an interest in Macrobiotics led me to become a student in Tokyo, where I met my first wife Akiko. Our son Hikaru was born there. After returning to the United States, we had another son, Taiyo, who was severely disabled.
My brother passed away 15 years ago. He was diagnosed with leukemia at the age of 9. From that point on, the battle of his disease began and all of us had to face it together. Unfortunately, his life ended 8 years later.
My mother joined Seicho-No-Ie many years ago when I was in middle school. I remember going to Seicho-No-Ie Japanese Readers’ Meetings at night, where my younger sister and I would watch television in the kitchen, while the adults were having the meeting in the living room.
My first contact with Seicho-No-Ie was 30 years ago through my grandmother, when I was only 5 years old. My grandmother never missed a Seicho-No-Ie meeting in our city, Porto Alegre, Brazil. I grew up learning Seicho-No-Ie’s wonderful teachings and I became a very confident person who always achieved my goals. As a child of God, I always knew that I have infinite power and that I can do anything I want.

I became very depressed and did not find any meaning in my life.One day, a colleague took me to a meeting at the Seicho-No-Ie Center in Lima, and from that day, I started to go to the Center every day after work.

Last September, I took part in the International Spiritual Training Seminar 2008 in Ontario with my wife for the first time. This was an amazing opportunity for us to understand more about Seicho-No-Ie.
I am a third-generation Japanese American born on the island of Maui. I was introduced to Seicho-No-Ie in 1946, when I was a student at the University of Hawaii. My boyfriend, who is now my husband, used to come to see me at my place every day. But on Tuesdays he was attending a religious gathering.
I attended the 43rd International Spiritual Training Seminar held in Florida from December 14 to 16. It was my third Seminar.
