The New Year’s Celebration was held on January 1 at the Seicho-No-Ie Headquarters in Harajuku, Tokyo. Rev. Masanobu Taniguchi, Vice President of Seicho-No-Ie, addressed about 500 people in the capacity of the Superintendent. He spoke for about 20 minutes.

Seicho-No-Ie has acquired a 5,000 ton CO2 Certified Emission Reductions trust from Mitsubishi UFJ Trust Bank. This is being implemented as part of our Zero Carbon movement that began from the 2007 movement year.
The Kyoto Protocol, which seeks to stop global warming, is called the “Kyoto Mechanism.” It sanctions international cooperation to reduce greenhouse gases.
It has been decided that Seicho-No-Ie offset the CO2 emissions resulting from two overseas groups’ visits to Japan during this movement year (March 2007-April 2008) to attend events held in Japan.
In Hong Kong, four events including a Readers’ Meeting, Parents Study Class, and Leaders’ Study Class were held in Japanese and Chinese from November 30 to December 2, 2007 at the Meeting Place/Office of the Seicho-No-Ie Hong Kong Holy Mission Fellowship, Inc. (Representative: Mrs. Machiko Kwok) in Kawloon.
The word, “Vegan,” is used to mean a person who not only does not eat meat but also fish, milk-based products and eggs. From two years ago we have given a Vegan party at our house.
