From 2007 Religious Juridical Person, “Seicho-No-Ie” (Seicho-No-Ie International Headquarters) has introduced a “Zero Carbon” movement. This is to try to minimize the amount of CO2 emissions that come from Seicho-No-Ie activities, and offset the CO2 emissions through introducing natural energy, contributing to forestation, etc. to bring the CO2 emissions to net zero in order to contribute solutions for today’s problem of peace, environment and energy.
In our organizational movement, because the CO2 emissions from the transportation of participants at each Seicho-No-Ie event are counted, we are reevaluating our events and also in the process of reforming our movement and business affairs.
Seicho-No-Ie International Headquarters, Seicho-No-Ie Main Temple and Seicho-No-Ie Uji Temple will achieve “Zero Carbon” emissions within 5 years (by 2011), and 59 Missionary Centers and 2 Spiritual Training Centers of International Headquarters in Japan will achieve “Zero Carbon” emissions within the next ten years (by 2017).
