A Readers’ Meeting Held in Sydney, Australia Study Includes Shinsokan and Man’s Coexistence with Nature

A Readers’ Meeting was held in a conference room at a hotel in Sydney, Australia and was attended by nine people, including two newcomers. The breakdown of the attendees by country of origin was 2 for Australia, 4 for Brazil, and 3 for Japan.

Rev. Akiko Minamoto (Assistant Minister, Asia, Europe and Oceania Section, International Department) was dispatched from the International Headquarters. She provided guidance in English. The texts used were Jisedai eno Ketsudan (Decision for the Next Generation) by Rev. Masanobu Taniguchi; and Seimei no Jisso (Truth of Life), Volumes 1, 7 and 8 by Rev. Masaharu Taniguchi.

This was the eighth time that a Readers’ Meeting guided by a lecturer dispatched from the International Headquarters has been held in Australia. Although there are no Regional Lecturers in Australia, activities using the Internet are being carried out, such as holding, by Japanese members, a reading circle on the Skype (free communications service on the Internet), facilitating interaction among members, and promoting Readers' Meetings via Facebook (an SNS site on the Internet).

Rev. Minamoto gave two lectures. In her lecture in the morning, “Law of Prosperity by Faith,” she explained that in order to acquire infinite wealth, it is important to live in compliance with God’s will. In her afternoon lecture, “For the Next Generation—What Is Grand Harmony Between God, Nature and Human Beings?,” she called upon the attendees to change their lifestyle to one that lives with nature.

In response to the local members’ requests collected beforehand, a workshop was held on Laughing Practice and the practice of Basic Shinsokan. Rev. Minamoto encouraged the attendees to actively use laughter in their daily lives and practice Shinsokan every day.

Comments from the attendees included: “I was able to reaffirm the Truth that man is a child of God and deepen my faith with a renewed sense”; and “I would like to hold a Readers’ Meeting at my home, too.” As a matter of fact, after this Readers’ Meeting, a Brazilian attendee held Australia’s first Portuguese-language Readers Meeting in October.

Rev. Minamoto commented, “I felt that as we hold more Readers’ Meetings, the attendees are gaining a deeper understanding of the teachings. I would like to support the propagation efforts in Australia by combining the use of the Internet and on-site activities.”
