The 9th Leadership Training Seminar Held in Hawaii, U.S.A.

Leaders Study the Truth

The 9th Leadership Training Seminar was held from August 24 to 26 at the Seicho-No-Ie Hawaii Jisso Center on the island of Oahu in Hawaii, U.S.A. The number of participants was 46.

The Seminar was guided by Rev. Yoshiko Teshigawara (Ordained Minister, Chairperson of International Spiritual Training Center), Rev. Mario Kawakami (Ordained Minister, Vice Bishop of United States Missionary Headquarters), Rev. Masayo Tsuruta (Ordained Minister, Chief of Northern California Missionary Area), Rev. Bruce Mallery (Ordained Minister, Chief of New York Missionary Area), Rev. Hideharu Sugiuchi (Ordained Minister, Vice Chief of Hawaii Missionary Area), Rev. Tomio Otsuka (Ordained Minister, United States Missionary Headquarters), and Rev. Hideki Takao (Assistant Minister, International Spiritual Training Center). The Seminar program included 13 lectures, including “The Relationship Between God, Nature and Human Beings,” and a workshop, among other things.

During the workshop designed to improve Regional Lecturers’ and others’ individual counseling ability, the participants divided into groups and were given by-group themes on personal problems and social issues, such as bullying and domestic violence. Each group discussed the method in which to guide under the leadership of Ordained/Assistant Ministers and presented the result of their discussions by performing skits.

As with the previous time, from the International Headquarters Rev. Tatsufumi Yukishima (Chief of International Department) and Rev. Shigetaka Watanabe (Chief of Propagation Planning Department) gave explanations, by using a Web Camera, of the outline of the Seicho-No-Ie Special Conference for World Peace held in Germany last year, and the current status of the construction work of the “Office in the Forest,” respectively.

Comments from the participants included: “I reaffirmed the importance of the ‘Movement that Grows with Nature’”; and “I thought that it was quite meaningful to exchange information about one another’s activities with people from other missionary areas and regions.”

Remarks by Rev. Yoshiko Teshigawara, Chairperson of International Spiritual Training Center

“This Seminar was designed to help the participants deeply study as leaders the significance of Seicho-No-Ie’s current efforts, centering on the content of last year’s Special Conference for World Peace. Also, for the Movement’s further growth in the future, I tried to help the participants affirm their mission as leaders who are both seekers of the Truth and propagators at the same time and study the aim of the ‘Movement that Grows with Nature’ and new propagation methods.”
