Readers’ Meetings Held in Hong Kong

A Total of 34 People Attend

In Hong Kong, a Readers’ Meeting and a Parents’ Study Class were held from January 3 to 5 at the Taizi Commercial Building. Both events were held in Chinese. The number of attendees totaled 34, including two newcomers.

In the past, when a Readers’ Meeting guided by an Ordained Minister (Assistant Minister) was held in Hong Kong, a lecturer was dispatched from Japan. However, for the sake of zero carbon emissions, Rev. Chen Borhorng (Ordained Minister) of the Republic of China Missionary Headquarters was dispatched this time. He guided directly in Chinese. The texts used included Chinese translations of Nyoi Jizai no Seikatsu 365-Sho (365 Golden Keys to a Completely Free Life) and Seimei no Kyoiku (Education of Life) by Rev. Masaharu Taniguchi.

The Readers’ Meeting held on January 3 was attended by 14 people, including one newcomer. Rev. Chen gave a lecture, “In Order to Deepen the Awareness that One Is a Child of God” and explained Seicho-No-Ie’s basic teachings and the importance of practicing the three important religious practices. The Readers’ Meeting held on the following day (January 4) had 11 attendees, including one newcomer. In his lecture, “In Order to Be Always Healthy,” Rev. Chen stressed that the awareness that “man is a child of God and illness is originally nonexistent” is the key to gaining good health.

The Parents’ Study Class held on January 5 was attended by 9 people. Rev. Chen lectured on “Seicho-No-Ie’s Educational Method” and stressed the importance of visualizing others’ True Image and making use of the power of words, while mixing in his own experiences. He made a point that Seicho-No-Ie’s Educational Method applies not only to children but it is effective for all people, regardless of age and gender.

In between events Rev. Chen provided individual counseling and also guided on the practice of Shinsokan. He encouraged those who were studying the teachings by themselves in the past to attend a Readers’ Meeting and share the joy of faith with other followers.

Attendees’ comments included “I was able to deepen my understanding of the teachings.”

Rev. Chen remarked, “I was impressed with the bright atmosphere and the attendees’ earnest attitude when listening to the lectures. A propagator, who is a leader of the recently-launched Reader’ Meeting site, brought two newcomers. This shows that the leaders in Hong Kong are actively promoting the Movement. It is necessary to develop Regional Lecturers in order to spread the teachings further in the future.”
