Third-Year Memorial Service for Rev. Seicho Taniguchi

Rev. Masanobu Taniguchi Gives a Message

Let’s Promote the Movement to Give Love to All Living Beings

The Third-Year Memorial Service for Rev. Seicho Taniguchi was solemnly held on October 28 at the Seicho-No-Ie Headquarters in Harajuku, Tokyo. Rev. Masanobu Taniguchi, President of Seicho-No-Ie, addressed the 350 attendees.

In his message, Rev. Masanobu Taniguchi noted how the word, “great mercy,” included in Rev. Seicho Taniguchi’s posthumous name befits him.

The President introduced a section from Rev. Seicho Taniguchi’s book, Ai wa Subete o Iyasu (Love Heals Everything), which talks about Rev. Masanobu Taniguchi’s innocent and unaffected way of his childhood. Rev. Seicho Taniguchi always tried hard to show love to his child even when he was disturbing his work.

The President next introduced another section from the same book, which says that if human beings go to the extent of using even a harpoon on young whales to catch parent whales and continue meat eating, war cannot be eradicated. After pointing out that the volume of meat production is now on the rise world-wide, Rev. Taniguchi said that the occurrence of many casualties from floods, earthquakes, and revolutionary activities due to the disparity between the rich and the poor are manifestations as a distortion of humanity’s bad karma of meat eating.

In concluding his message, the President urged that we tune to Rev. Seicho Taniguchi’s mind to love all living beings and expand the Movement.

The Memorial Service started at 10:00 a.m. After the purification rite, Invocation, offerings and reading of the supplication, sacred branches were offered by Rev. Masanobu Taniguchi; and Mrs. Junko Taniguchi, President of Seicho-No-Ie White Dove Association. It was followed by the offering of a sacred branch by the Head Priest. Then, while the attendees read the Holy Sutra, Nectarean Shower of Holy Doctrines, sacred branches were offered by Rev. Kazutomi Otsuka, Chief of the Seicho-No-Ie Missionary Council; Rev. Kazuo Isobe, Chairman and CEO of Seicho-No-Ie; and others. The attendees burned incense and expressed their gratitude to Rev. Seicho Taniguchi. It was followed by the removal of offerings and Affirmation of Perfect Peace and Harmony. The Headquarters choir sang the Seicho-No-Ie song, “Eien ni” (To Eternity), which was composed and whose words were also written by Rev. Seicho Taniguchi. The Memorial Service came to an end with the message by Rev. Masanobu Taniguchi.
