Second-Year Memorial Service for Rev. Seicho Taniguchi

Rev. Masanobu Taniguchi Gives a Message

Rev. Seicho Taniguchi’s Teaching Shows the Way to International Peace

The Second-Year Memorial Service for Rev. Seicho Taniguchi was solemnly held on October 28 at the Seicho-No-Ie Headquarters in Harajuku, Tokyo. Rev. Masanobu Taniguchi, President of Seicho-No-Ie, addressed the 376 attendees.

In his message Rev. Taniguchi introduced Rev. Seicho Taniguchi’s words from the 1985 Seicho-No-Ie Presidency Succession Ceremony/Fall Festival: The Truth must be developed from different aspects according to the time.

The President referred to a section from Rev. Seicho Taniguchi’s book, Atarashii Kaikoku no Jidai (Time of Japan’s New Opening, published by Seicho-No-Ie), where Rev. Taniguchi attributed the cause of World War II to Japan’s attachment to Manchuria’s resources and interests against the Emperor’s will, which was a slightly different view from Rev. Masaharu Taniguchi’s. The President stressed that Rev. Seicho Taniguchi succeeded the Truth itself and developed it according to the time.

The President stated that today’s global condition shows the correctness of Rev. Seicho Taniguchi’s view. He pointed out that countries are fighting for their rights and interests to secure resources in many parts of the world and that global warming has become a serious problem.

The President emphasized that the way to solve these problems is to use natural energy and that if nations and companies do not initiate action, each citizen needs to act. He made it clear that Seicho-No-Ie is promoting the Sundial Way of Life for this cause.

Rev. Taniguchi concluded his message by saying that we are promoting the Movement for the sake of international peace while re-affirming that we are following Rev. Seicho Taniguchi’s teaching and with deep gratitude for Rev. Masaharu Taniguchi’s teaching.

The Memorial Service started at 10:00 a.m. After the purification rite, Invocation, offerings and reading of the supplication, sacred branches were offered by Mrs. Emiko Taniguchi, Rev. Masanobu Taniguchi, and Mrs. Junko Taniguchi. It was followed by the offering of a sacred branch by the Head Priest. Then, while the attendees read the Holy Sutra, Nectarean Shower of Holy Doctrines, sacred branches were offered by Rev. Kotaro Miura, Chief of the Missionary Council; Rev. Kazuo Isobe, Chairman and CEO of Seicho-No-Ie, and others. The attendees burned incense and expressed their gratitude to Rev. Seicho Taniguchi. The Headquarters choir sang the Seicho-No-Ie song, “Eien ni” (To Eternity), which was composed and whose words were written by Rev. Seicho Taniguchi. The Memorial Service came to an end with the messages by Mrs. Emiko Taniguchi and Rev. Masanobu Taniguchi.
