The 24th Seicho-No-Ie National Convention (Japanese Language) Attended by 2,452 People

Held under the theme, "Seicho-No-Ie that amis at Peace by Faith"

The 24th Seicho-No-Ie Brazil National Convention (Japanese language) was held on July 18 at the Anihembi International Convention Center. The number of attendees was 2,452.

The theme of the Convention was “Seicho-No-Ie That Aims at Peace by Faith.” The lecturers were Rev. Yoshio Mukai (Ordained Minister, Bishop of Seicho-No-Ie Latin America), Rev. Marie Murakami (Ordained Minister, Chairperson of Brazil Missionary Headquarters), Rev. Fernando Onodera (Assistant Minister, Vice Chief of Brazil Brotherhood Association), and three Regional Lecturers.

In his lecture entitled “What Is True Religious Salvation?,” Rev. Mukai taught that whatever kind of environment one is in, if he realizes the truth, man is a child of God, he can improve himself. Rev. Murakami lectured under “Land of Light” and talked about the importance of bringing out our entire life energy in our day-to-day life. The other lecturers lectured along the Convention theme.

As an environmental protection activity, an explanation was given on “by-category trash collection,” recycling, and reduction of energy usage. A video on environmental protection was also shown to raise the attendees’ awareness about environmental protection.

In light of the fact that an increasing number of people cannot understand Japanese, a separate Convention site was made available for 230 Japanese Brazilians unable to speak the Japanese language, where the programs were held in Portuguese. The lecturers went back and forth between the main site and the sub-site and lectured in Portuguese and Japanese, respectively.

Comments received from the attendees included: “I was moved by the fact that many people gathered in order to study the same truth. The Convention went very well thanks to young people’s excellent emcee job. I would like to practice the Seicho-No-Ie teachings from now on and work hard together with other members.”

REMARKS BY REV. YOSHIO MUKAI, BISHOP OF SEICHO-NO-IE LATIN AMERICA

“In Brazil, among the young generation, the number of Japanese Brazilians who can speak Japanese is decreasing. To offer a separate site to run the Program in the Portuguese language was an excellent idea. From now on I would like to deal with people’s needs at the time and powerfully carry forward the Movement.”
