The 55th Seicho-No-Ie Brazil Youth and Young Adult Association National Convention held under the theme, "Let's Live Truth, Goodness and Beauty"

The Number of Attendees Totals 8,323

On July 25, the 55th Seicho-No-Ie Brazil Youth and Young Adult Association National Convention was held at the Ibirapuera Gymnasium in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The number of attendees was 8,323.

Held under the theme, “Let’s Live Truth, Goodness and Beauty,” the Convention’s objective was that the attendees actively express truth, goodness and beauty in their daily lives and propagate the teachings to friends and acquaintances.

There were lectures along the Convention theme. The lecturers included Rev. Yoshio Mukai (Ordained Minister, Bishop of Seicho-No-Ie Latin America), Rev. Marie Murakami (Ordained Minister, Chairperson of the Brazil Missionary Headquarters), and Rev. Carlos Alberto da Silva (Assistant Minister, Chief of Youth and Young Adult Association).

In his lecture entitled “Environment—Expression of Truth, Goodness and Beauty,” Rev. Mukai talked about the importance of finding truth, goodness and beauty in nature. As his texts, he used Hidokeishugi towa Nanika (What Is the Sundial Way of Life?) by Rev. Masanobu Taniguchi and other publications. Other lecturers also lectured on truth, goodness and beauty from different angles.

Also, the importance of by-category trash collection and reduction of plastic shopping bags was stressed as an actual practice of expressing truth, goodness and beauty in the environment. Sixty members of the Convention Management Committee set an example by actually collecting and separating trash at the Convention site and encouraged the attendees to do the same.

Also, the Brazil Youth and Young Adult Association Band Contest was held as an attraction. Three groups, which passed the qualifying round, gave their performances.

There were 24 Convention staffers who were assigned to the transmission of the programs on the Internet via the Brazil Youth and Young Adult Association’s official site and other Internet communication services such as Twitter. This was the first time to do so. It enabled people who could not travel to the Convention site to see the program via PC or cell phone.

Also, sign language interpretation was made available for the first time for people with a hearing handicap.

Comments from the attendees included: “This was my first Convention. I was deeply moved by everything. Especially, the lectures were wonderful. I feel that my soul improved a great deal.”

REMARKS BY REV. YOSHIO MUKAI, BISHOP OF SEICHO-NO-IE LATIN AMERICA

“In Brazil, right now, our focus is on the development of successors. So, all the other Associations offered their total cooperation to this Convention. Thanks to their support, many young people attended. I believe that the Movement of the Youth and Young Adult Association will continue to grow powerfully.”
