One-Day Truth Realization Seminar held in Canada on the theme of Shinsokan and Sundial Way of Life

A Seicho-No-Ie Toronto One-Day Truth Realization Seminar was held on May 2 at the Secho-No-Ie Toronto Center in Ontario, Canada. The number of attendees was 25.

According to the Toronto Missionary Area, which sponsored it, several anniversary celebrations were held in the last two years: two years ago, the 10th anniversary commemorating the completion of the Toronto Center Building, and last year, the 35th Vancouver Center Dedication Anniversary. It was decided at this year’s management committee meeting in Toronto that in order to help members deepen their faith in a day-to-day situation, a one-day Truth Realization Seminar should be held. This was being held for the first time after Rev. Toshiro Kobayashi (Ordained Minister, Chief of Toronto Missionary Area) became the Chief of the Toronto Missionary Area.

The Seminar was held on “Shinsokan” and the “sundial way of life and was guided by Rev. Kobayashi and Regional Lecturers. There was a lecture and discussion on Shinsokan in the morning and on the sundial way of life in the afternoon.

At a discussion held by two groups, the representative of each group summarized the content of their discussion and presented it in front of all the attendees. They shared how they daily live their religious life and testimonials, comments and questions. Comments and answers were provided by Rev. Kobayashi, Regional Lecturers and other leaders.

There was also an explanation on the significance of laughing as well as a practice of it. To help the attendees practice the sundial way of life after they return home, small notebooks were presented to the attendees in place of the Sundial Diary, which is not published in English-speaking countries. They were encouraged to use them to record bright words every day.

Comments received from the attendees included: “There were lectures and discussions on the important topics of Shinsokan and the sundial way of life. We were able to share precious religious experiences.”

Remarks by Rev. Toshiro Kobayashi, Chief of Toronto Missionary Area

“The fact that we held a one-day Truth Realization Seminar with the members of the Toronto Missionary Area was very significant to the Missionary Area. I would like to apply this experience in the Movement and hold meaningful events in the future.”
