Readers' Meetings held in Thailand and Indonesia on the Theme of Faith in Only Goodness

From January 20 to 23, joint Readers’ Meetings were held in Thailand and Indonesia. The number of attendees totaled 11. Rev. Mamoru Amachi (Assistant Minister, Asia, Europe and Oceania Section, International Department) was dispatched from the International Headquarters as a lecturer.

In Thailand, a Readers’ Meeting was held on January 20 at the home in Bangkok of Mr. Hirotaka Miyamura, Representative of the Joint Readers’ Meeting. Five people including three newcomers attended.

In Indonesia, a Readers’ Meeting was held on January 23 at the Cartica Chandra Hotel in Jakarta and was attended by six people, including two Indonesians.

In both countries, the content of the Readers’ Meeting was almost the same. The texts used were Shosetsu Shinsokan (Detailed Explanation of Shinsokan) by Rev. Masaharu Taniguchi; and Shogeki kara Rikai e (From Shock to Understanding) and Hidokeishugi towa Nanika (What Is the Sundial Way of Life?) by Rev. Masanobu Taniguchi.

Rev. Amachi lectured on the theme, “Shinsokan Is Wonderful” and explained the significance of Shinsokan. All the attendees practiced the new version of “Shinsokan to Practice the Four Immeasurable Minds, which Rev. Masanobu Taniguchi announced in January.

On the topic, “Let’s Spread the Faith in the God of Only Goodness” Rev. Amachi explained the similarities between Seicho-No-Ie and Islam and encouraged the attendees to practice the sundial way of life, while maintaining the faith in the God of only goodness.

The program at the Readers’ Meeting also included testimonial presentations by the attendees, questions and answers, a laughing practice, and a chant, “My true image is perfect and harmonious.”

Comments were received from the attendees, including “My misunderstanding about Islam has been dissolved”; and “I would like to continue to give others a smile, loving words and praise.

Rev. Amachi commented, “I talked about Islam for the first time. Two Muslim attendees were happy that their religion had been understood. At present Japanese followers keep the Joint Readers’ Meeting going. In order to further spread the teachings, I would like to provide support and help develop people in the locales by using the “Seicho-No-Ie Scholarship for International Peace Program” and so forth.
