Readers' Meeting and Parents' Study Class held in Hong Kong

Theme of Study include The Sundial Way of Life

In Hong Kong, four events were held from July 31 to August 2 in Kowloon: a Chinese-language Readers’ Meeting, Parents’ Study Class and Sunday Readers’ Meeting (all with Chinese interpretation), as well as a Japanese-language Readers’ Meeting. A total of 43 people attended, including six newcomers.

The events were held on such themes as “Make the Best of Now,” “Let’s Practice the Sundial Way of Life,” and “Gratitude to Parents.” Rev. Natsuki Yamamoto (Assistant Minister, Assistant Chief of Asia, Europe and Oceania Section, International Department) was dispatched from the International Headquarters as a lecturer. He used, as his texts, Shinko “Kanro no Hou” Kaishaku (New Lecture—Interpretation of the Nectarean Shower of Holy Doctrines) by Rev. Masaharu Taniguchi and other publications.

The Chinese-language Readers’ Meeting was held on July 31, and on August 1, the Japanese-language Readers’ Meeting was held. Using PC images and diagram material which were prepared beforehand, Rev. Yamamoto explained that it is important to break down self-limitations and practice the sundial way of life that sees only the bright side of things. He introduced experiences of his mother, a believer of Seicho-No-Ie.

On August 2, a Parents’ Study Class and Sunday Readers’ Meeting were held. Rev. Yamamoto stressed the importance of gratitude to one’s parents and ancestor and encouraged the attendees to practice the three important religious practices.

Rev. Mamoru Amachi (Assistant Minister, the same section of the International Department) accompanied Rev. Yamamoto in the capacity of an interpreter and a staffer in charge of Hong Kong. He held a discussion meeting with Chinese and Japanese leaders with the objective of energizing propagation activities in Hong Kong. There was an exchange of opinions on the management system of Seicho-No-Ie Hong Kong.

Comments from the attendees included: “I was able to get a real sense of the wonderfulness of the teachings”; “I would like to bring out my infinite power in my daily life”; and “I was able to understand that gratitude to my parents is important in order to gain happiness.”

Rev. Yamamoto remarked, “At the Chinese-language Readers’ Meeting, the room was full with attendees. Seeing them take notes during my lectures, I was impressed with their serious attitude. They voiced their strong wish to read translated Seicho-No-Ie Books. I would like to continue to cooperate with the Republic of China Missionary Headquarters in their publication efforts.”
