Students' Seminar held in the Republic of Korea under the Theme, "We will Materialize Our Dreams"

In the Republic of Korea, the 23rd Students’ Seminar was held from August 14 to 16 at a youth training center in Chung-buk Goisangun. The Seminar was for elementary, junior and senior high school students. The number of attendees was 88.

According to the Kwang Myong Hoy, the sponsor of the Seminar, the main theme of the Seminar was “To Materialize Your Dream.” The main points of the study were to help the attendees “understand the importance of having a dream that is unique to each individual,” “become aware of the treasure in each person and express it powerfully,” and “realize the oneness of everything—everything is one life.” They tried to make the Seminar appealing by increasing experience-based programs, such as workshops.

Rev. Yoshihiro Kudo (Ordained Minister, Vice Chief of the Youth and Young Adult Association), who guided the Young Leaders’ Workshop in Korea in July, was dispatched again from the International Headquarters. He guided together with Rev. Jeong Hee Kim (Assistant Minister, Chairman of Kwang Myong Hoy), and Rev. Jeong Ho Kim (Assistant Minister, Vice Chairman of Kwang Myong Hoy). In addition, college students and people in their twenties, who attended the Young Leaders’ Workshop, helped as the management staff.

Throughout the three-day period the Seminar stressed as the important points of realizing one’s dream: (1) know that everyone has been given a mission by God, (2) have a dream which makes many people happy, and (3) practice the three important religious practices. After the Lecturers explained the importance of these points, they had a group study and workshop, where the participants studied the specific ways to materialize their dreams.

The Seminar program also included an outdoor workshop called “Infinite Ability Contest” on the second day. They studied the importance of working hard for the team through such games as carrying water pots and pulling automobiles.

Comments received from the participants included: “Until now I used to see only my shortcomings, but I have come to know that I have many good points”; and “I have gained confidence that I can definitely materialize my dream.”

Rev. Kudo remarked, “I was happy that I could convey to the students the importance of having a dream. I emphasized that the dream to make many people happy through the study of the Truth is certain to bear fruit.”

REMARKS BY REV. JEONG HEE KIM, CHAIRMAN OF KWANG MYONG HOY

“Those who attended the Young Leaders’ Workshop in July were involved in managing the Seminar. They are planning to hold a Youth Readers’ Meeting at the end of August. They show stronger interest in participating in the Movement. In making preparations for the Workshop, we worked closely with Rev. Kudo from early stages. This helped to make a good Seminar.”
