WORKSHOP FOR YOUNG LEADERS HELD IN THE REPUBLIC OF KOREA

DEVELOPMENT OF LEADERS WHO WILL SHOULDER THE NEXT GENERATION

The First Workshop for Young Leaders was held at the Kwang Myong Hoy hall from July 11 to 12. Thirty-one youths, college students as well as those who had finished school, who will shoulder the next generation, studied the Truth.

According to the Kwang Myong Hoy, the sponsor of the Workshop, the development of youths is the most important for the future growth of Seicho-No-Ie Republic of Korea. Hence the purpose of the Workshop was: (1) understand the significance of the three important religious practices and practice them every day, and (2) deepen the awareness as members of the management committee for the Student Seminar to be held in August.

Rev. Yoshihiro Kudo (Ordained Minister, Vice Chief of Youth and Young Adult Association) was dispatched from the International Headquarters as a lecturer. He gave six lectures, including “Finding Your True Self” and “True Image and Phenomena.” The focus of Rev. Kudo’s guidance was to let each attendee take each theme in the context of his own daily life and study the Truth as a problem closely related to him.

In his lecture entitled “What Is the Sundial Way of Life?” Rev. Kudo showed the picture, “Sundial News,” shown at the Youth and Young Adult Association National Convention, which had Korean subtitles and introduced examples of how the world changes if one sees the bright side of things. Also, a digital camera was lent to each group so that the attendees can photograph beautiful things in the hall. They subsequently showed the pictures on the screen and critiques were invited. They studied the sundial way of life that recognizes and expresses truth, goodness and beauty from different angles.

In the period, “Let’s Practice Love,” the attendees were asked to remember many forms of love that they have received, and reconfirmed the nature of religious love. Then each group discussed the plan for the Student Seminar to be held the following month. They deepened the awareness and mission as leaders.

A 24 year-old female attendee commented, “The content of the Workshop was upgraded further. I hope that younger students will make us their example and practice the sundial way of life, and together with them we want to build a wonderful future.”

Rev. Kudo remarked, “I think that it was quite significant that the attendees who follow the same faith studied the Truth at the Workshop and deepened the communication among them. They will shoulder the Enlightenment Movement in the Republic of Korea in the future.”

REMARKS BY REV. JEONG HEE KIM, CHAIRMAN OF KWANG MYONG HOY

“Rev. Kudo planned the Workshop in such a way that everyone participated and talked with one another rather than just listen to the lectures. Thanks to his plan, the Workshop turned out to be a memorable and enjoyable event. All the college students announced their intention to attend next month’s Student Seminar in front of the group. So I feel confident that the Workshop will be a great success.”
