SEICHO-NO-IE BRAZIL NATIONAL CONVENTION

GUIDED BY REV. AND MRS. MASANOBU TANIGUCHI

PLEDGE FOR FURTHER GROWTH OF SEICHO-NO-IE BRAZIL IN AN ATMOSPHERE OF UPLIFTMENT AND JOY

On August 8, the Seicho-No-Ie Brazil National Convention was held at the Transamerica Expo Center in Sao Paulo. The theme of the Convention was “I Record None But Hours of Sunshine.” The number of attendees was 6,172.

The last time when Rev. Masanobu Taniguchi, President of Seicho-No-Ie, guided the Brazil National Convention was in 1993. Rev. Taniguchi lectured under the Convention theme. Mrs. Junko Taniguchi, President of Seicho-No-Ie White Dove Association, gave a lecture, “Sundial Way of Life and Family Life.”

Rev. Taniguchi explained in detail the sundial way of life as well as Seicho-No-Ie’s fundamental truths—the vertical truth (only God-Created perfect world exist) and horizontal truth (all phenomena are manifestations of only mind). He taught the difference between the True Image of the God-created real world and the phenomena that the human mind creates.

Using the moon as an example, the President explained that the real moon is always globular but the reflection of the moon cast on the surface of the pond changes shapes by the second. The True Image is always perfect and harmonious and is the world of only goodness, but the phenomena seems like an uncertain world which has both goodness and evil mixed together.

The President next turned to the human happiness and introduced from his blog, Random Thoughts, the June 14 entry, “Happiness Does Not Consist in an Environmental Condition.” Using as an example of an American, who left his job as a first-rate journalist and is now living in Kyoto, he stressed that material wealth is not a cause for happiness.

Rev. Taniguchi stated that if one fully uses both the left-side brain, which controls logical thinking, and the right-side brain, which controls perceptive organs, man can gain a sense of happiness and meaning for life in the true sense. He said that the sundial way of life is the best way to correct the city life heavily dependent on the left-side brain.

Rev. Taniguchi concluded his lecture by saying that the Brazilian society should stop being driven by desires and propagate the Seicho-No-Ie teachings in order to materialize the True Image of the earthly society that includes animals and plants, since man is a child of God, and nature, which is God’s piece of work, coexists and co-prospers with man in the True Image world.

Mrs. Junko Taniguchi taught that man is a child of God, who lives his life in order to express the infinity of God’s life and that the world of the actualities is created by the mind of each human being.

Mrs. Taniguchi next emphasized that to live a happy life, it is important that we form a habit of seeing the bright side of our family and other things. She suggested that we keep a diary to record that we are grateful for ordinary things and strongly impress them on our minds. She urged that we practice the sundial way of life that finds many blessings in our daily life, and be grateful for and praise them.

The National Convention began as Rev. and Mrs. Taniguchi entered the stage amid the attendees’ joyous call, “Sosai (President), Sosai…” There were also lectures by Rev. Yoshio Mukai (Ordained Minister, Bishop of Seicho-No-Ie Latin America), Rev. Marie Murakami (Ordained Minister, Chairman of Brazil Missionary Headquarters), testimonial presentations, the singing of Seicho-No-Ie songs, and a performance of Japanese dance by the White Dove Association.

ATTENDEES’ COMMENTS

Cleuber Rodrigues Pereira, Chief of Brotherhood Association, Porto Velho Missionary Area

“When Rev. and Mrs. Taniguchi entered the stage, I felt as if Rev. Masaharu Taniguchi entered. I was deeply moved. I felt that even if we have a new President, the succession of the Truth has been consistent.”

Kelly Karina Meira Barros, Campinas White Dove Association No. 2, Campinas Missionary Branch

“I was moved by Mrs. Taniguchi’s lecture, in which she suggested that we write only good things in our diaries to impress only good things on our subconsciousness. I will definitely follow her guidance.”
