The Republic of Korea Leaders' Workshop held on the Theme, "Environment, Resources, and Peace"

In the Republic of Korea, the 19th Leaders’ Workshop was held on March 15 at the Kwang Myong Hoy hall. Fifty-two leaders studied the Truth.

The Workshop was held on the theme, “The Issue of Environment, Resources, and Peace” based on the International Headquarters’ 2009 Movement Policy, “A Movement that Grows with Nature.” Rev. Teruo Nishitani (Assistant Minister, Chief of Asia, Europe, Oceania Section, International Department) was dispatched from the International Headquarters as a lecturer. He guided through the interpretation of Rev. Jeong Ho Kim (Assistant Minister, Vice Chairman of Kwang Myong Hoy).

Rev. Nishitani gave two lectures, including “For the Realization of ‘A Movement that Grows with Nature,’” using, as his texts, Taiyo wa Itsumo Kagayaiteiru (The Sun Always Shines Brightly) by Rev. Masanobu Taniguchi, the Korean translation of the Movement Policy and other publications. He explained the important points of this year’s Movement Policy. He also explained the Seicho-No-Ie Presidency succession and being united as one through the teaching given by the President and the Vice President, in connection with Rev. Masanobu Taniguchi’s succession to the Seicho-No-Ie Presidency on March 1 of this year. He emphasized that the faith in God of only goodness is essential in resolving the issue of environment, resources and peace and said that daily practice of the three important religious practices is important.

After each lecture and also at the end of the entire program there was a Q&A session, which was guided by Rev. Jeong Hee Kim (Assistant Minister, Chairman of Kwang Myong Hoy) and Rev. Nishitani. A wide range of questions were asked about individual salvation to the salvation of humanity.

Rev. Nishitani remarked, “I got a first-hand sense that a bright and energetic movement is being carried out in the Republic of Korea. I would like to stay in close contact with the Kwayng Myung Hoy and continue to provide clear guidance and advice as to the creation of a women’s organization and development of young leaders.”

Remarks by Rev. Jeong Hee Kim, Chairman of Kwang Myong Hoy

“In the Republic of Korea, the awareness about the environmental issue is not yet very high. I believe that Rev. Nishitani’s easy-to-understand explanation of CO2 emissions in our country based on statistics helped the attendees to take up the problem as their own. I hope that we will promote the movement that is suitable to today’s Korea in accordance with the Movement Policy, which has an international perspective.”
