Regional Lecturers' and Englightenment Leaders' Workshop held in Brazil via the Internet

2,900 People Study the Truth

In Brazil, the Internet-based Regional Lecturers’ and Enlightenment Leaders’ Workshop was held at 83 of 118 missionary branches on March 15. A total of 2,889 people attended, up by 391 people (13.5%) from the previous time. This was Brazil’s first nation-wide Workshop that had used a two-way system on the Internet.

According to the Brazil Missionary Headquarters, the event at the Brazil Missionary Headquarters’ annex building was transmitted real time to the Workshop sites across the country via the Web Conference System on the Internet. The attendees studied through images shown on the screen. Questions were submitted during the lunch recess, using the Chat system (two-way real-time letter-based system to handle conversation on the Internet), and the answers were provided during the Q&A session in the afternoon by the lecturers concerned. Holding the event via the Internet reduced the CO2 emissions by about 31 tons, compared with the past emissions resulting from the lecturers’ movement.

The theme of the Workshop was “Importance of Proper Prayer.” The lecturers included Rev. Yoshio Mukai (Ordained Minister, Bishop of Seicho-No-Ie Latin America), Rev. Marie Murakami (Ordained Minister, Chairperson of the Brazil Missionary Headquarters), Rev. Sinji Takahashi (Ordained Minister, Director of the Brazil Missionary Headquarters), and Rev. Olimpio Kitahara (Ordained Minister, Chief of the Lecturers’ Department, Brazil Missionary Headquarters). There were four lectures, including “Pray for Others, Materialize Divine Healing and Deepen Your Faith” and “Repayment and Gratitude to God.” There was also a Q&A session.

A Regional Lecturer, who attended, commented, “In the past I had to travel move than 600 km to attend. I was very happy to receive the guidance of Rev. Mukai and other lecturers on the Internet.”

Remarks by Rev. Yoshio Mukai, Bishop of Seicho-No-Ie Latin America

“We came up with a plan to use the Internet last year, so we made thorough preparations by conducting repeated connection tests with each missionary branch. We have received joyous comments that the attendees could receive, via the Internet, the lecturers’ guidance being given at the Missionary Headquarters. We gained the awareness of the possibilities of conducting a nation-wide workshop and at the same time reduce CO2 emissions. It was very meaningful. I would like to make a good system while solving various problems, as they arise.”
