Burial Service for Rev. Seicho Taniguchi held at Seicho-No-Ie Main Temple


On February 27, the Burial Service for the Late Holy Master Rev. Seicho Taniguchi was held at the Taniguchi Family Monument at the Seicho-No-Ie Main Temple in the presence of Rev. and Mrs. Masanobu Taniguchi.

The attendees included Rev. Kotaro Miura, Chief of the Seicho-No-Ie Missionary Council; Rev. Kazuo Isobe, Chairman and CEO of Seicho-No-Ie; and Missionary Councilors and Directors. The Ceremony began at 10:30 a.m. with the arrival of Rev. Taniguchi, who was holding Rev. Seicho Taniguchi’s ashes, and Mrs. Junko Taniguchi. At the Burial Ritual, Rev. and Mrs. Masanobu Taniguchi went to the burial site beneath the gravestone and carefully placed the ashes.

After Rev. and Mrs. Taniguchi were seated, there were the purification rite, the Invocation, and the reading of supplication by the Head Priest. Rev. and Mrs. Taniguchi then offered sacred branches. It was followed by the offering of sacred branches by the Head Priest and the Chief of the Missionary Council. While the attendees read the Holy Sutra, Nectarean Shower of Holy Doctrines, the Chairman and CEO, Missionary Councilors, and Directors offered sacred branches. This was followed by the removal of the offerings and the Affirmation of Perfect Peace and Harmony. The Service ended at 11:26 a.m.

Prior to this Service, on December 19, 2008, the Burial Ceremony was held at the Taniguchi Family’s grave in Tama Reien Cemetery in Fuchu, Tokyo to bury a portion of Rev. Seicho Taniguchi’s ashes. Mrs. Emiko Taniguchi was the Chief Mourner. Rev. and Mrs. Masanobu Taniguchi were also present.
