Rev. Masanobu Taniguchi's Address at the Seicho-No-Ie Delegates Conference

Urges to Simultaneously Expand the "Carbon Zero" Movement and the Seicho-No-Ie Movement

At the Seicho-No-Ie Delegates Conference held on February 28, Rev. Masanobu Taniguchi, Acting President of Seicho-No-Ie, gave an address for 26 minutes from 11:12 a.m.

In his address, Rev. Taniguchi referred to the part of the 2009 Movement Policy, “changeover of the intermediate-scale events to small-scale events,” and explained that the intention for the change is to prevent people from being all “absorbed” at the Missionary Center level, but rather, many small-scale events should be held and leaders at the top should go to these events.

Pointing out the importance of training heads of district associations and unit organizations, Rev. Taniguchi said that we need to increase people with an “appropriate level of fervor” rather than have a limited number of leaders with burning enthusiasm. He also emphasized the importance of information sharing and encouraged the use of Internet-based “virtual organization” in order to complement the activities built on actual human relationship.

Rev. Taniguchi next introduced a section from his new book, Mezamuru Kokochi, which talks about the problem of using a portable music player involving heavy use of the hearing sense. He spoke of a virtual organization and environment that does not miss the fundamental element of a religious movement, namely, “mind-to-mind communications between people.” He called upon the attendees to develop the Movement according to the goal of simultaneously reducing CO2 emissions and expanding the Movement.

The Seicho-No-Ie Delegates Conference was held from February 27 to 28 with the presence of Rev. and Mrs. Masanobu Taniguchi. The worship hall of the Main Temple was used as the venue for the first time. About 800 people attended, including Seicho-No-Ie Councilors and domestic and overseas officers. The Movement Policy was explained. There was also a Q&A session.
