Events such as Readers' Meeting and Parents' Study Class held in Hong Kong

"The Movement that Grows with Nature"

At the meeting place/office of the Seicho-No-Ie Hong Kong Holy Missionary Association, Ltd. (Representative: Mrs. Machiko Kwok) on Kowloon in Hong Kong, four events were held from November 21 to 23: a Readers’ Meeting, a Parents Study Class, a Readers’ Meeting for Leaders (Chinese interpretation was provided for all the above events); and a Japanese-language Readers’ Meeting. They were held on such themes as “The World View that Everything Is One—Realization of the Movement that Grows with Nature,” and “Education of Praise.” The number of attendees totaled 37.

Rev. Natsuki Yamamoto (Assistant Minister, Assistant Chief of Asia, Europe and Oceania Section, International Department) was dispatched from the Interntional Headquarters. The texts which he used included Seimei no Jisso (Truth of Life), Vol. 1 by Rev. Masaharu Taniguchi, and Ashimoto kara Heiwa o (Realizing Peace by Faith) by Rev. Masanobu Taniguchi.

A Chinese-language Readers’ Meeting and a Japanese-language Readers’ Meeting were held on November 21 and November 22, respectively. At the Chinese-language Readers’ Meeting, Rev. Yamamoto explained the significance of “The Movement That Grows with Nature” and stressed that the teaching of oneness with the self and others is not just about human beings but that man and the environment are also one. At the Japanese-language Readers’ Meeting he emphasized that Seicho-No-Ie’s education is “education of praise,” that recognizes children’s divinity. He called upon the attendees to practice smiling and use words of love and praise in their daily lives.

At the Parents Study Class held on November 23, Chinese translations of the teaching on the power of words selected from Seicho-No-Ie books were distributed. Rev. Yamamoto explained the law of the mind and said that laughter is also a positive and bright word. That was followed by a laughing practice. At the Readers’ Meeting for leaders held on the same day, Rev. Yamamoto explained the Zero Carbon Movement and emphasized that environmental activities are a way to practice religious life in a modern sense. Each attendee then talked about his own environmental activity, such as carrying my bag and my chopsticks. They shared an understanding that an environmentally friendly lifestyle is a religious life to live by the teachings.

Comments received from the attendees included: “I was able to understand the movement that the International Headquarters is promoting”; and “I would like to use words of Truth as much as possible.”

Rev. Yamamoto remarked, “When I called upon the attendees to propagate actively after the gathering, I learned that the Japanese and Chinese groups jointly propagated on the streets on December 21 of last year. I was deeply impressed with their enthusiastic attitude. I would like to continue to provide support in the future.”
