Study of the Teachings

In Canada, from mid-October to early November a Leaders’ Workshop (English), a Truth Study Class (Japanese), and a One-Day Truth Realization Seminar (English) were held in Vancouver and Toronto. The number of attendees totaled 108.

From the International Headquarters, Rev. Tetsuya Abe (Ordained Minister, Acting Chief of Hawaii Missionary Area) and Rev. Toshiko May (Ordained Minister, Acting Chief of North American Section, International Department) were dispatched to Vancouver and Toronto, respectively. They provided guidance together with Rev. Toshiro Kobayashi (Resident Ordained Minister in Canada, Chief of Toronto Missionary Area).

In Vancouver, a Leaders’ Workshop was held at the Seicho-No-Ie Vancouver Center on October 18 (10 attendees). On the evening of the same day a Truth Study Class was held (13 attendees). A One-Day Truth Realization Seminar was held on October 19 (19 attendees). The number of attendees totaled 42.

In Toronto, a Truth Study Class was held at the Seicho-No-Ie Toronto Center on November 1 (21 attendees). On the evening of the same day a Leaders’ Workshop was held (13 attendees) and on November 2 a One-day Truth Realization Seminar was held (32 attendees). The number of attendees totaled 66.

Both in Vancouver and Toronto, the lectures at the Leaders’ Workshop were entitled “Let’s Read the Holy Sutras” and “World Peace and Our Mission.” The lecturers talked about the power of words and the importance of reading Holy Sutras. They also explained the teaching that all religions emanate from one universal God and the International Peace by Faith Movement. The texts included the Four Holy Sutras, which was published last year by the United States Missionary Headquarters, and other publications. At the Japanese-language Truth Study Class, the lectures were on ”Words Change One’s Fate—Let’s Live the Sundial Way of Life.”

The lectures at the One-day Truth Realization Seminar were entitled “Bright Words, Bright Life,” and “The Sundial Way of Life—World Peace and Our Mission.”

Rev. Abe commented, “Attendees asked forward-looking questions. At the Resolution Presentation period held at the end, many said they will work hard for English propagation.” Rev. May remarked. “I would like to provide support to help local leaders and followers to play an active role as leaders.”

Rev. Kobayashi remarked, “I appreciate the fact that both lecturers provided wonderful guidance, using English and Japanese, as needed. I would like to work hard to develop new leaders/members and give a Regional Lecturer Examination at an early date and expand the Movement in Canada.”
