HONG KONG LEADERS’ WORKSHOP

Study of "A Movement that Grows with Nature"

In Hong Kong, a Leaders’ Workshop was held from March 15 to 16 at the meeting place of Seicho-No-Ie Hong Kong in Kowloon. Fourteen local leaders studied the Truth.

The Workshop is held every year under the sponsorship of the International Headquarters in order to build a foundation for propagation in Hong Kong. Rev. Jiro Hashimoto (Ordained Minister, Chairman’s Secretariat Office) was dispatched from the International Headquarters. He spoke with Chinese interpretation.

Using as his texts Shinko ni yoru Heiwa no Michi (Realizing Peace by Faith) and Imakoso Shizen kara Manabo (Learning from Nature) by Rev. Masanobu Taniguchi and other publications, he gave four lectures, including “On the World View that Everything Is One” and “Issue of Environment/Resources/Peace.” He talked about the sundial way of life and gave an outline of “A Movement That Grows with Nature” and stressed the importance of propagation. He also introduced the serious condition of the environment, showing the relationship between the increase of CO2 and global warming using images simulated from a time perspective. He emphasized that in order to solve this issue, steady efforts grounded on faith is essential.

Because of a strong request of local leaders, this year the one-day Workshop was extended to two days to include such religious programs as Shinsokan for Mutual Prayer and laughing practice. This enhanced the attendees’ enthusiasm in the programs.

Comments from attendees included: “I was able to understand the significatnce of Seicho-No-Ie’s “Movement That Grows with Nature”; and “All the attendees were moved by the Shinsokan for Mutual Prayer, that was included in the Workshop’s program for the first time.”

Rev. Hashimoto remarked,

“When I go overseas to lecture, I strongly renew my appreciation of how fortunate Japanese followers are to be able to read Seicho-No-Ie books without translation. In Hong Kong, an organization for the Movement has not yet been established.” Seeing a blind person studying the Shinsokan posture earnestly and the leaders study the teaching and engage in propagation activities enthusiastically, I was deeply moved.”
