THE 18TH REPUBLIC OF KOREA LEADERS’ WORKSHOP

Discussion about "True Wealthy"
in Group Workshop

Study of Sundial Way of Life and Environmental Issue

The 18th Republic of Korea Leaders’ Workshop was held on March 9 at the Kwang Myong Hoy Hall in Daegu. The number of attendees was 89.

In accordance with the International Headquarters’ 2008 Movement Policy, “A Movement That Grows with Nature,” the Workshop had two themes, “Let’s Practice the Sundial way of Life” and “Issue of Environment/Peace/Resources.”

Rev. Yasuo Mera (Ordained Minister, Seicho-No-Ie Counselor) was dispatched from the International Headquarters. Using as his texts Seimei no Jisso (Truth of Life), Vol. 7 by Dr. Masaharu Taniguchi and Imakoso Shizen kara Manabo (Learning from Nature) by Rev. Masanobu Taniguchi, Rev. Mera provided guidance through the interpretation of Rev. Jeong Ho Kim (Assistant Minister, Vice Chairman of Kwang Myong Hoy).

Touching upon the problem of the yellow sand, which interests Korean people very much, Rev. Mera explained the religious viewpoint on the environmental issue. Also, the Workshop encouraged attendees’ participation by separating them into groups to discuss “true prosperity.” They also studied the sundial way of life in a game format, where attendees looked at the bright side of others around them and praised them.

There were two testimonial presentations: a Regional Lecturer saw his business thrive by living a thoroughly faith-based life; and a female leader overcame her financial difficulties and family discord, and she now holds Readers’ Meetings. There was also a Q&A session on the Seicho-No-Ie teachings.

Rev. Mera remarked,

“Kwayng Myong Hoy is steadily laying an organizational ground, such as establishing Lecturers’ Department and holding Readers’ Meeting at 20 sites nation-wide. The Movement in the Republic of Korea is expected to grow further.”

Rev. Jeong Hee Kim remarked,

Chairman of Kwang Myong Hoy

“Thanks to Rev. Mera’s excellent guidance, the attendees seemed to have understood, by practice, that it is not so difficult to praise and look at the bright side of things. Also on the “issue of environment/resources/peace,” the leaders responded positively. Each leader decided to brighten up his own life based on what he learned at the Workshop and spread the teachings by promoting an organizational movement in Korea.”
