A STUDY CLASS IN LATIN AMERICAN COUNTRIES VIA INTERNET

Attending Study Class Via Screen at their
Headquarters building in Lima City, Peru

The first Truth Study Class via Internet (Spanish) was held on February 8 and 9, connecting the Brazil Missionary Headquarters and nine Latin American countries, where Spanish is the major language spoken. The attendees studied the Truth, looking at pictures on the PC.

To enable this communication, special software was installed on the PCs of the Missionary Headquarters and receiving countries, and they used the Web Conference System which facilitates realtime exchange of messages, while showing pictures (with sounds) and text messages on the screen to allow the exchange of messages.

According to Rev. Yutaka Yokoyama, Chief of Latin America Propagation, in the past Ordained/Assistant Ministers were dispatched to these countries directly from the Brazil Missionary Headquarters to provide guidance.

This time, the Study Class was guided by Ordained/Assistant Ministers who have a good command of Spanish while remaining at the Missionary Headquarters. A total of 102 people studied the Truth at 13 locations in nine countries: Paraguay, Argentina, Bolivia, Spain, Columbia, Mexico, Peru, Panama and Brazil.

The Missionary Headquarters received many requests that the event continue to be held. Twenty classes are scheduled to be held from April to November.

Rev. Yoshio Mukai, Bishop of Seicho-No-Ie Latin America, remarked, “The use of this system enables us not only to quickly relay the teachings to Latin American countries but also cut down CO2 emissions from ministers’ travel as well as saving time and expenses. There are many merits. From now on I would like to make positive use of this system in sending information to 118 Missionary Branches in Brazil.”

The cost of the system is $800US for a plan which covers up to 15 locations.
