The 52nd Seicho-No-Ie Brazil Youth and Young Adult Association National Convention was held on September 1 at the Ginasio da Portuguesa de Desportos in Sao Paulo. The number of attendees was 5,012.

Held under the theme, “God Exists Each Day,” the Convention lasted for eight hours from 1:35 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. The program included lectures, testimonial presentations, award presentations, the singing of Seicho-No-Ie songs and attraction. The Convention opened to the presentation of a deeply moving musical arrangement of the Convention theme. It was very moving and impressed many attendees.

The Convention was guided by Rev. Yoshio Mukai (Ordained Minister, Bishop of Seicho-No-Ie Latin America), Rev. Yoshihico Iwassacca (Ordained Minister, Chairman of the Brazil Missionary Headquarters), Rev. Enio Masaki Hara (Assistant Minister, Chief of Youth and Young Adult Association), Regional Lecturers and Enlightenment Leaders. There were six lectures, including “God Exists Each Day in Those Who Give,” “In Seicho-No-Ie Youth and Young Adult Association Members, God Exists Each Day,” and “In Those Who Are Truthful God Exists Each Day.”

The Youth and Young Adult Associations of nine missionary areas, including Campinas Missionary Area, were awarded for their outstanding Movement results in the previous year. In addition, 26 individuals received awards from Rev. Iwassacca for their dedication to the Youth and Young Adult Association Movement.

Prior to the Convention a request was made that attendees donate rice as a part of Seicho-No-Ie’s social welfare activity. On the Convention day there was 16 tons of donated rice at the reception desk. The rice was subsequently presented to 17 welfare organizations.

A first-time female attendee in her twenties commented, “Everything was wonderful. I learned a great deal from the lectures. When I return home, I want to practice everything that was taught. I would like to attend the Convention every year in the future.” A male attendee in his twenties commented, “Our Missionary Area chartered a bus to attend the Convention, but the bus broke down on the way. Not knowing what to do, we prayed and asked a bus driver on regular routes for help. He voluntarily drove us to the Convention site. We all felt certain that God always protects us, as the Convention theme says.”

Remarks by Rev. Yoshio Mukai,

Bishop of Seicho-No-Ie Latin America

“We used to set the attendee objective at 10,000 people as we promoted the Youth and Young Adult Association National Convention. But from last year, due to the size of the Convention site the number of attendees has been lowered to about half. However, since the members of the Association went around to all missionary centers in and around Sao Paulo to promote, the Convention drew 5,012 attendees. It was a remarkable result. Their activities will translate into the future expansion of Seicho-No-Ie. I am pleased with their work.”
