FIRST-TIME ATTENDEES ACCOUNT FOR ABOUT 40 PERCENT

110 people attended Students Seminar

Study of Infinite Capacity of a Child of God

The 19th Republic of Korea Student Seminar was held from July 27 to 29 in Gyeongsan and was attended by 110 people, including 45 first-timers (41.6%).

According to Kwang Myong Hoy, the reason for attendance by many first-timers, in excess of 40 percent, was thanks to the fact that leaders in Soeul, Daegu, and Pusan actively promoted the Seminar to their families, friends, and acquaintances.

This Seminar is held every year for elementary, intermidate and high school students. This year’s Seminar was held under the theme, “Three Days (Two Overnights) to Understand the Self.” Rev. Shuichi Odaira (Ordained Minister, Vice Chief of the Youth and Young Adult Association) was dispatched from the International Headquarters as a lecturer. Other lecturers included Rev. Jeong Hee Kim (Assistant Minister, Chairman of Kwang Myong Hoy) and. Rev. Jeong Ho Kim (Assistant Minister, Vice Chairman of Kwang Myong Hoy). There were such lectures as “Everyone Is a Child of God and Has Infinite Capacity,” “The World Created by the Mind,”and others. The lectures revolved around Seicho-No-Ie’s teaching, man is a child of God and has infinite capacity, as well as its vertical truth and horizontal truth. On the final day, there was a lecture and discussion session guided by the lecturers on “environmental protection.”

At this Seminar attendees’ comments were compiled and printed and a video and CD were made of the attendees exchanging messages of blessing. They were sent to the attendees after the Seminar.

Remarks by Rev. Jeong Hee Kim, Chairman of Kwang Myong Hoy

“This Seminar is making great contribution to the Korean society by awakening the attendees to their infinite possibility and teaching them the preciousness of life dwelling in everything in heaven and earth. As we hold the Seminar, I feel confident that as the number of attendees increases, the Seicho-No-Ie teaching will become influential and bring diversity into the students’ lives. I had a strong sense that the attendees of this year’s Seminar were absorbing the teaching with complete concentration. I felt confident that students’ and youth’s activities will become stronger in my country in the years to come.”

Comment by Sung Il park, First-Year Student in Senior High School

“Two years ago I attended the Seminar with my hair dyed red, but in spite of it I was praised, ‘You are a child of God.’ I was deeply moved. After that I attend every Seminar. This is my second school to study about life. This year, I was touched by the words, ‘I can do anything.’ I will study hard when I return home.”
