In July, a Junior Truth Realization Seminar (July 7-8, Japanese) and a Junior Spiritual Training Seminar (July 20-22, Portuguese) were held in Brazil at the South American Spiritual Training Center in Ibiuna, Sao Paulo in the Southeast. The number of participants totaled 690.

These Seminars are held every year for the Junior Generation (ages 11-14). This year’s theme was “There Is No Limit to Winning Victory.”

The Spiritual Training Seminar (Portuguese), which had 431 participants, was guided by Rev. Junji Miyaura (Ordained Minister, director of Brazil Missionary Headquarters), Rev. Carlos Arbert da Silva (Assistant Minister, Vice Chief of Brazil Youth and Young Adult Association), Regional Lecturers and Enlightenment Leaders. Using as texts Seinen no Sho (For Young People) by Dr. Masaharu Taniguchi, Shinko ni yoru Heiwa no Michi (Realizing Peace by Faith) by Rev. Masanobu Taniguchi, and others, there were such lectures as “Have a Dream and Accomplish It with Confidence.” In the lecture entitled “There Is No Limit to Improving the Environment,” they studied the importance of systematically dealing with global warming from the viewpoint, “only goodness is existent,” which leads to gratitude to everything in heaven and earth.

There was a discussion session guided by the lecturers. The theme was “Sex During Adolescence.” They studied the correct way to live with a sense of responsibility of a child of God, knowing the difference between true love and carnal lust.

The Seminar program also included Ancestor Memorial Service, an explanation and practice of Mind Purification Ceremony, and the study of the importance of gratitude to parents and family.

The Truth Realization Seminar (Japanese) drew 259 participants. Its program had almost the same content as that of the Spiritual Training Seminar.

Remarks by Rev. Yoshio Mukai, Bishop of Seicho-No-Ie Latin America

“This age group is the most difficult to lecture to. Thanks to good planning of the Junior Section of the Youth and Young Adult Association, the sponsor of the Seminar, the selection of lecturers was done on the basis of who could give appealing and interesting lectures. Since this is the most important age group, I will continue to work hard to develop them.”

Comment by Lecitia Ayumi Hirota, First-Year Intermediate School Student

“This was my first Seminar. I was pleased to study about life which lies ahead of me. I learned that I am a child of God and can live a happier life with my family and friends. When I returned home, I found out that I had become a happier and more cheerful girl. I now attend the Junior Group’s gathering every Sunday and enjoy being involved in the activities.”
