The 22nd Year Memorial Service For Rev. Masaharu Taniguchi

Vice President stresses the Need to Promote The "Movement that Grows with Nature"

The 22nd-Year Memorial Service for Dr. Masaharu Taniguchi was solemnly held on June 17 at the Taniguchi Family Monument in the Seicho-No-Ie Main Temple in Nagasaki Prefecture. The rain from the early morning stopped when the Service began at 10:00. At the end of the Service Rev. Masanobu Taniguchi, Vice President of Seicho-No-Ie, addressed about 900 attendees.

In his address, the Vice President pointed out, based on United Nations organizations’ reports, the possibility that mankind can meet a serious calamity within this century if global warming worsens. He explained the reason why Seicho-No-Ie is promoting the “Movement That Grows with Nature,” saying that without harmony between man and nature enlightenment of humanity or world peace cannot be realized,

He also introduced the prayer for June 17 from the Seimei no Jisso (Truth of Life), volume on Happiness: “I am supported by the universe’s entire force; I am one with the universe’s entire force.” He called upon the attendees to recite these words during Shinsokan to deepen the sense of oneness with nature and draw force from it in one’s daily life and the Movement.

Rev. Taniguchi next read a portion of the “Prayer to Muster Gratitude for the Blessing of Rain” from his book, Hibi no Inori (Daily Prayers). He concluded his address by calling upon the attendees to continue promoting the Movement with confidence and faith that the activities to express life contributes directly to resolving the environmental issue.

At the Memorial Service, Rev. Masanobu Taniguchi, Vice President of Seicho-No-Ie, served as the Chief Priest. Mrs. Junko Taniguchi, Vice President of the White Dove Association, was also present. Rev. and Mrs. Masanobu Taniguchi offered sacred branches to the soul of Dr. Masaharu Taniguchi, which was followed by the offering of a sacred branch by Rev. Kotaro Miura, Chief of the Missionary Council. The burning of incense took place while the attendees read the Holy Sutra, Nectarean Shower of Holy Doctrines. The Memorial Service came to an end with Rev. Masanobu Taniguchi’s address.
